Hennessy Cognac pretty well sells itself, but that hasn’t stopped our friends at Hennessy from recruiting some of the most engaging and exciting partners to help spread their message to consumers.
In recent months, Hennessy has enlisted the talents of artists such as Vhils and A$AP Ferg, international boxing phenom Canelo Álvarez, and award-winning filmmaker Ridley Scott, to name a few. This summer, the legendary spirits house welcomes two new stars to their galaxy of dynamic partners: acclaimed visual artist Felipe Pantone and beloved actor Henry Golding.
Pantone’s Singular Talent
Hennessy Cognac is a work of art itself, and our friends at Hennessy are quick to recognize and appreciate the artistic achievements among today’s leading artists. The brand has a longstanding history of partnering with cutting edge artists, such as Argentine-Spanish contemporary artist Felipe Pantone, who joins Hennessy this summer for a collaboration on the 2019 Very Special (V.S) Limited Edition release.
This will be the brand's ninth artistic partnership with an art world pioneer over the last decade. Previous partnerships have celebrated modern, urban culture with acclaimed talents such Vhils, JonOne, Ryan McGinness, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos and Futura.
For his part, Pantone has remained something of an enigma in today’s contemporary art scene, having never publicly revealed his face. His work, however, is breathtaking, drawing upon the aesthetics of vintage typography, optical art and kinetics, with bold graphics and 3D illusions.
According to a statement from Hennessy, Pantone has been commissioned to produce two original works to accompany a creative collaboration that Pantone describes as “Remixing the Present.” Pantone is drawing inspiration from the Hennessy archives, and the old labels, advertisements, bottles, packaging, and other materials hidden within. The work, entitled "W-3 Dimensional Three Stars", is reprised on the Hennessy V.S Limited Edition by Felipe Pantone bottle label.
“Whether it's in art or in Cognac-making, you need to appreciate the past but at the same time it's important to constantly reinvent yourself if you want to keep the flame alive,” Pantone said. “My work is informed by the past, but it's totally contemporary. I like to transcend time through an unexpected experience that you can only have through art. I'm always trying to jump on the next wave, to innovate.”
Golding Ticket
Actor and professional handsome man Henry Golding has also joined the Hennessy team as the new, official ambassador for the company’s storied Prestige range of Cognacs, such as Hennessy X.O. and the Rare Cognac Collection. And unlike Pantone, Golding has no hesitation around revealing his face as part of his work with the brand. As the brand’s first ever Prestige ambassador, Golding will be the face of some of the house’s most iconic Cognacs.
“I am honored to join Hennessy as their first official Prestige ambassador,” Golding said in a recent statement. “Similar to Hennessy, I have a passion for global exploration and an inherent curiosity to discover the rich diversity of the world. I look forward to the many exciting projects to come and taking my fans on this journey with me.”
Golding’s persona projects a modern, worldly, and discerning sensibility which perfectly fits the qualities of the Prestige portfolio. In addition, he has the name (and face) recognition among consumers to build a stronger connection between the band and Cognac lovers throughout the country.
