Bags. They hold things.
And now, thanks to our partners at Diageo, the iconic purple Crown Royal bags hold the promise of vital support for active members of the United States armed forces.
It’s called the Purple Bag Project, and it allows whisky lovers to turn Crown Royal’s velvety bags into a financial donation to help support the troops. This latest initiative, coming on the heels of other similar programs from the whisky giant, partners with the organization Packages From Home, a group dedicated to providing care packages to service members stationed around the world, and we are proud to do our part to help out.
Interested consumers should visit DonateYourBags.com to get more information and instructions on printing pre-paid shipping labels that make it even easier to participate. For each bag collected and sent in, Diageo will make a $1 donation to support the ongoing mission of Packages From Home. That money goes to help Packages From Home assemble and deliver care packages to our heroes and heroines stationed around the world, and every bit of support helps.
On the Crown Royal website, the company credits the project as a way for the company to “proudly support those who do so much to help others,” and an example of the brands ethos of “live generously.” As such, the company “wanted to do more than simply raise a glass” to honor the nation’s troops.
“We wanted to give them something meaningful, for giving their all to protect our country,” according to the company. “So we created The Purple Bag Project, packing and sending care packages to the most generous amongst us, our soldiers.”
The project has been around for nearly a decade, with the first Purple Bag packed in September 2010. Since then, Crown Royal’s dedicated commitment has helped Packages From Home package up over half a million bags packed.
The company has set a goal of packing one million bags for the troops by 2020.
