NEW AMSTERDAM VODKA'S 'IT'S YOUR TOWN' ART EVENT SERIES

7/1/2016

With a robust museum and art gallery lineup, one doesn’t have to look very hard in Chicago to find art. However, some of the most impressive works aren’t behind velvet ropes and don’t require a ticket for entry.

Street art –not graffiti – is a form of art that has long been a cultural staple in cities such as Barcelona, New York and Melbourne, and is now gaining serious traction in Chicago. Over 40,000 square feet of street art has already been added to Chicago’s downtown landscape in 2016.* Turner and other local artists have helped shepherd in the new age in art.

The emerging Chicago movement had locals yearning for more, and New Amsterdam Vodka launched a nationwide campaign to celebrate the talented artists.

It was a blistering hot Chicago summer day when Turner spoke of his newfound passion. In fact, the weather outside guided art enthusiasts to an idyllic setting at Chicago Truborn to consume Chicago’s hottest street culture.

Turner, along with artists from eight other U.S. cities, have partnered with New Amsterdam Vodka for the “It’s Your Town” Art Event Series, which showcases original works by local artists. Adding to the increasing list of Chicago art events, the “It’s Your Town” Chicago stop showcased Turner’s distinctive perspective on the city.

As a proud supporter of the arts, New Amsterdam Vodka will also donate one painting in each “It’s Your Town” market and use proceeds to benefit a local arts charity.

In addition to sponsoring the street art festivities, New Amsterdam Vodka offered guests a refreshing cocktail to pair with the culture. Throughout the event, patrons sipped on a unique spin on the Moscow Mule – A Dam Cold Wind.
