Trend Watch: What’s Pouring at the Breakthru Beverage Leadership Conference?

Mar. 21, 2016

As leaders in the alcohol beverage industry, our team’s cocktail program was spectacular.  Drinks were crafted by Nick Nistico, Breakthru Beverage Florida’s beverage program specialist, with each one creatively reflecting the local flavors of Breakthru’s various regions.

“It is so exciting to be joining the Breakthru family and to showcase our local brands with you.  All three cocktails are citrus based, light and refreshing before dinner drink options,” said Nick when describing the lineup which included the below hand fashioned cocktails.

Since Florida serves as the host market for the Leadership Conference, Nick was inspired by a favorite craft distiller located in the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine, FL.  He paired the modern flavor of peppercorn with fresh local strawberries from Plant City in the center of the state, creating a cocktail that speaks to the history and tastes of the South East region.

For a taste of the South West, Nick called on the flavors of Milagro’s Reposado and the heat of Ancho Reyes.  To further enhance the sweet and sour flavor of this margarita, he added the husky flavor of smoky sea salt.

When asked to represent the North East, Philly-native Nick delved into a tradition steeped in the times of George Washington, The Fish House Punch, with a dash of local Key West flavor courtesy of Papas Pilar rum.
