Ardbeg Wins 2018 Distillery of the Year at the International Whisky Competition

Sep. 21, 2018

It’s a two-peat for Ardbeg.

For the second year in a row, the scotch whisky is taking the Distillery of the Year title back to its island home. The International Whisky Competition (IWC), the world’s most well-known whisky competition, praised Ardbeg for its “exceptional craftmanship in the art of making whisky.”

Ardbeg submitted five expressions — Ardbeg Uigeadail, Ardbeg Grooves, Ardbeg An Oa, Ardbeg Corryvreckan and Ardbeg Ten Years Old.

Each scored over 90 points, which was a first in IWC’s history. Ardbeg Uigeadail was also awarded with the titles Best Single Malt and Best Peated Whisky.

“We are truly honoured to be named IWC Distillery of the Year – and delighted that Ardbeg’s entire range came in for such high praise,” said Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, Whisky Creation & Whisky Stocks for Ardbeg.

Breakthru Beverage is honored to have the quality whisky in our portfolio and we are proud to be able to partner with such an esteemed distillery. Talk to your Breakthru Sales Consultant about all of Ardbeg’s expressions and how you can bring them to your markets.
