Breakthru Wins Award for Diversity
May 27, 2016
“Our Diversity & Inclusion strategy is a comprehensive, long-term undertaking… which will enable us to achieve our vision to be the leading beverage company in North America.” Those are the words of our CEO and President, Greg Baird, and they reflect a devotion to diversity at Breakthru Beverage Group that was recently recognized by one of the nation’s leading human resources organizations.
On May 11, the Chesapeake Human Resources Association (CHRA) recognized Breakthru’s commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion with this year’s James W. Rouse Diversity Award. The prize is named for Baltimore-area real estate developer and urban planner James Rouse, whose list of accomplishments included the first enclosed shopping center east of the Mississippi River and the creation of Columbia, MD, an entirely new city between Baltimore and Washington DC. To honor his memory, the CHRA bestows the award annually to the local organization which best exemplifies an attitude and environment of acceptance and inclusion.
Breakthru’s Director of Diversity & Inclusion, Doug Berger, said “It is truly an honor for Breakthru Beverage to receive this award named for James W. Rouse, a visionary in the field of urban planning,” adding “we are very pleased to have been selected.”
