Veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a devastating reality that Veteran Travis Davis maneuvers every day. Living a life of reoccurring horrific flashbacks makes readjusting to society a seemingly unmanageable feat.

Some much needed relief finally came to Davis when he paired up with K9s For Warriors, a nonprofit that provides service canines to military veterans suffering from PTSD.

One night, Davis was having yet another nightmare.

“Skip woke me up licking my face,” recalled Davis. The familiar sense of dread and panic was this time met with a new sense–one of compassion and comfort.

Since its inception in 2011, K9s For Warriors has provided hundreds of service canines to Veterans needing the emotional support. K9s For Warriors rescues dogs from high-kill shelters and trains them to become “battle buddies” for the former service members. The nonprofit’s goal is to support 12 warriors a month.

“So many Veterans don’t know there is a tremendous support network available to them after they return from service through organizations like K9s For Warriors,” said retired Army Sergeant First Class Joe Swoboda.

Supporting Veterans has long been a passion for Early Times. “Reinforcements” is the latest effort for the whisky and its parent company, Brown-Forman, to give back to the men and women who bravely serve to preserve our freedom.

“Every Veteran who receives a service dog from K9s For Warriors has a story to tell,” said Marc Hindorff, senior brand manager for Early Times. “We wanted to share those stories across the country. We hope that ‘Reinforcements’ will increase awareness and support for K9s For Warriors with the goal of pairing even more service dogs with Veterans, and empowering them to continue living life with independence and dignity after military service.”

In addition to producing the documentary, Early Times has donated more than $100,000 to K9s For Warriors to fund training for five warrior/service dog teams.

“Reinforcements” will be made available for public viewing in late 2016. The film’s trailer may be viewed online at EarlyTimes.com.
