What to Serve and Sell this Fall - Expert Advice from Wirtz Beverage Specialists
Oct. 28, 2014
With the holiday season fast approaching, we've asked our in-house experts for some guidance on what to offer customers this Fall.
While I lean towards Gin and Agave in the Summer (warmer) months as I find them to be bright and refreshing, I tend to gravitate towards darker more rich, warming spirits in the Fall and Winter (cooler to cold) months. For that, I suggest Bourbon or Rye. They bring holiday spice and Autumn richness to the table. The Manhattan is a great example for a cocktail that meets all these components. The spice of the Rye or Bourbon balances with a beautiful rich Sweet Vermouth that brings caramel-vanilla and wine notes with Cinnamon and cardamom to the table. While the Bitters form a bridge to marry the flavors together. Bitters to a bartender are kind of like a spice rack is to a chef. They are used for "seasoning" a cocktail. I offer up a classic Manhattan Cocktail recipe and a couple classic variations for you to try if you are feeling adventurous.
Cheers!
