Breakthru South Carolina Adds Four New Breweries to Growing Beer Portfolio

Perhaps no Breakthru market has made as big of an impact this year in the craft space as South Carolina. In early 2017, Breakthru SC entered into the craft beer business with the launch of Goodwood Brewing and Seattle Cider. Since then, Breakthru SC has worked quickly to build out a diverse and well-rounded craft beer portfolio with a strong coastal flavor.
“Our intent this year is to build a rounded portfolio that gives us an opportunity to sell beer in every type of account we call on,” said Breakthru SC’s VP, Sales Operations, Gene Hall. “We have several more beers slated for the fall which will complete our 2017 portfolio objective.”
Estrella Galicia
The Estrella Galicia brewery was founded in 1906 by José María Rivera Corral. To this day, the brewery remains 100 percent family owned, with its founder's great grandson and namesake, José María Rivera running the company. Its flagship beer, Estrella Galicia, is light, crisp and refreshing—perfect for warm afternoons spent enjoying the coast’s fresh seafood.
Owl’s Brew Radler
Owl’s Brew Radler is a tea-based radler created by tea sommelier Jennie Ripps. These refreshingly low-alcohol “double brews” like Wicked Watermelon and That’s My Jam are crafted using whole, all-natural ingredients and are free from artificial flavors and concentrates. The company is also sustainability minded and commits 1 percent of its net revenue to clean water initiatives.
Sea Dog Brewing Co.
Sea Dog was founded in 1993 as a small brew pub in the coastal city of Bangor, Maine. In its 24 years in business, Sea Dog has grown into an east coast craft beer institution, opening breweries and brew pubs up and down the coast, from Maine and New Hampshire, all the way down to Florida. Sea Dog prides itself on brewing classic English and German beer styles, going so far as to import both hops and barley from overseas. The brewery also ferments its English ales in open fermentation tanks, a traditional method that results in fruity ales with a crisp and balanced finish.
Shipyard Brewing
Since 1994, Shipyard Brewing Company has been brewing coastal-inspired beers using quality ingredients and can eye towards consistency and freshness. All of Shipyard’s beers are hand crafted from recipes developed by master brewer Alan Pugsley, one of the most respected brewers in the craft brewing movement in North America, and an inspiration for many of today’s current brewing all-stars. Shipyard’s seasonal and specialty releases, especially its Pumpkinhead pumpkin ale, are true consumer favorites and disappear from stores quickly.
