Moët Hennessy at Jesse Owens Awards
May 17, 2017
Moët Hennessy and the International Athletic Association partnered this year to honor two American icons at the Jesse Owens International Athlete Trophy Gala, held at the Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. Serena Williams and Muhammad Ali were both recognized for their exemplary achievements in sports and philanthropy.
The award began in 1981 as a joint effort between the IAA and former Moët Hennessy executive, and Jesse Owens’ protégé, Herb Douglas, as a way to honor the humanitarian and Olympian legacy of Jesse Owens. The Jesse Owens International Athlete Trophy Gala honors elite American athletes who exemplify the ideals embodied by Owens: integrity, perseverance, and service.
Moët Hennessy provided drinks for the evening, and Breakthru was represented by Kevin O’Neil, executive vice president for Diageo and Moët Hennessy, and Brian Albenze, executive vice president for commercial excellence. Breakthru is proud to be a part of this year’s gala awards ceremony, and we look forward to next year’s honorees.
