We are thrilled to celebrate a 10-year milestone in our partnership with one of our city’s most respected nonprofits – Meals on Wheels Chicago (MOWC).

Every week, MOWC serves food to thousands of homebound Chicago seniors, ranging nearly 80 Chicago neighborhoods. For many clients, the MOWC visits are the only one these seniors have during a given day.

“Meals on Wheels Chicago is a staple in the lives of so many seniors,” said Hillary Wirtz, Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Breakthru Beverage Group. “The MOWC staff goes above and beyond to help better the lives of the homebound seniors, and we’re proud to continue to support this organization that is a daily essential to so many.”

Giving back to our community is a core value at Breakthru, and we’re honored to have played a role in helping MOWC deliver critical care to their clients.

“During the past 10 years, Breakthru Beverage Group’s support has helped raise more than $2.4 million, which in turn allows our homebound neighbors to remain in their homes and live with dignity,” said David J. Tabak, Executive Director, MOWC.

One of the yearly charity initiatives of MOWC is this week’s annual Celebrity Chef Ball, now in its 29th year, which we are proud to support again this year. According to MOWC website, the annual event “raises more than $200,000 annually, and generates one-fourth of the MOWC annual revenue to fund programs for Chicago’s homebound senior and disabilities communities.” In addition to this year’s support, which includes serving a top-shelf cocktail program, we’re excited to take on a bigger role next year.

“We are proud to name Breakthru Beverage Group and the Wirtz family as the official sponsors of Meals on Wheels Chicago’s 30th anniversary,” Tabak said.
