West Coast Wines Make their Mark at the Celebrity Chef Ball

Over 800 guests are slated to attend the 27th Annual Meals on Wheels Chicago Celebrity Chef Ball this Friday. We are proud to join our partner E&J Gallo in delivering the stunning, coastal wine portfolios of Edna Valley Vineyard and Columbia Winery for the occasion. Whether paired with creative fare from some of Chicago’s brightest culinary talents or sipped alone by the edge of the dance floor, these wineries’ dedication to creating exceptional wines sourced from the Central Coast and Washington State wine climates will surely punctuate the event.
Edna Valley Vineyard
Paired with dishes served at the evening’s VIP Chef’s Table, Edna Valley Vineyard offers a true expression of California's Central Coast. A beacon of over 30 years of tradition, these selections reflect a passion for crafting distinctive wines.
Edna Valley Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: Well-balanced with rich citrus and tropical fruit flavors. Concentrated fruit aromas of orange zest, grapefruit and lime are complemented by notes of fresh cut grass. Bright acidity makes the wine crisp and adds length and minerality to the finish.
Edna Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes: Aromatically complex, this wine displays nuances of rose petal, cola, earth and black cherry. Our Pinot Noir is medium-bodied with a full mouthfeel, fine tannins and a long finish.
Edna Valley Vineyard Merlot
Tasting Notes: Opens with aromas of cocoa powder, anise and black cherry, complemented by hints of leather and humidor. Fine tannins and a bright acidity create a rich, balanced mouthfeel.
Columbia Winery
Featured at the Chef’s Tasting Party, Columbia Winery will provide guests with a taste encompassing over fifty years of innovative practices. Using grapes selected from south-facing slopes in top quality regions of Washington State, Columbia Winery offers distinct, food-friendly wines with fruit-driven flavors and a firm acidity.
Columbia Winery Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: Bright aromas of pear, apple and hints of tropical fruits that extend to the palate. A balanced acidity and integrated sweet vanilla oak notes create an elegant Chardonnay that pairs well with seafood.
Columbia Winery Composition Red Blend
Rich and medium-bodied, this wine has blackberry aromas and ripe red fruit flavors of cranberry, cherry and plum that are framed by hints of spicy oak.
Columbia Winery Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes: Well-structured with firm tannins and ripe dark fruit flavors of blackberry and black currant, layered with notes of toasty oak and cocoa.
