More than 157 million Americans plan to celebrate Halloween this year, according to the National Retail Federation’s Halloween Consumer Spending Survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics. Consumers are expected to pull out all the stops in 2015 with the average person spending $74.34, which is slightly less than the average spent in 2014 -- $77.52 per person. Despite the small dip, Americans are projected to spend $6.9 billion on costumes, candy, decorations, and party favors.

According to financial news site TheStreet.com, spikes in LDA purchase of beer, wine, and spirits for the holiday are expected to grow.

"With Halloween on a Saturday night this year, brews and booze may take on an even more prominent role in celebrating the holiday among U.S. adults," wrote TheStreet.com’s Brian O’Connell.

Once considered a holiday "for the kids," American adults are contributing to what some critics call a "frightening" growth in Halloween consumption trends, as more and more Millennials come of age and maintain their propensity to purchase costumes, candy, and other faire.  According to NRF, 81% of millennial consumers plan to celebrate Halloween, 49% of which will search for costume ideas online.

Those concerned about what the recent dip in temperatures will do to sales can rest easy. The NRF also reports that the fall weather inspires shoppers to get into the spirit. The survey revealed that 41% of consumers will begin their Halloween shopping in the first two weeks of October.

Slay sales this October by stocking up the spirits that will satisfy your customers’ Halloween fever.
