Breakthru Beverage Charity Golf Classic Raises Nearly $100K for Local Charities

In what has become the most anticipated–and rewarding–event of the year for Breakthru Beverage Arizona, the 29^th Annual Breakthru Beverage Charity Golf Classic was another big success. From the golf at the pristine Biltmore Golf Club to the elegant gala, attendees, sponsors and the Breakthru AZ associates helped make the 2016 edition one to remember.

 

“Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Charity Golf Classic–you’re participation helps make a difference in our community,” said Gary Lederer, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Breakthru Beverage Arizona. “Our charity partners are addressing some of the most important issues facing our state, and we’re proud to deliver an event that supports a variety of missions that all have a positive impact on Arizonans.”

 

In all, $96,000 was raised for Arizona charities, including the following:

• The Dorothy Foundation – A 35-year-old organization, in tandem with The Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University, supporting innovative research in the fight against cancer.
• The University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center – Celebrating its 30^th year, the Sarver Heart Center works towards heart disease prevention.
• The University of Arizona Cancer Center – A leading cancer treatment center that recently hosted Vice President Joe Biden’s National Cancer Moonshot Summit.
• D-backs Give Back – The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation creates programs to support local Veterans, police, teachers and more.

 

The festivities teed off early on September 29^th, with golfers bravely battling A.M. showers before the skies cleared and rewarded everyone with a sun-filled back nine.

 

After the morning round, players were treated to a sports panel hosted by FOX10’s–and the Dorothy Foundation’s–Jude LaCava. He led a fantastic discussion with three former players from the Arizona Diamondbacks, including J.J. Putz, Willie Bloomquist, and World Series hero Luis Gonzalez. The former stars of the diamond regaled the crowd with a behind-the-scenes look at unforgettable moments in Diamondbacks history.

 

The rest of the merriment included the lively Bourbon and Boots reception, a second round of golf–rain-free this time, a silent auction and the first-class gala, which included delicious food, libations, dancing, photo booth and the always popular wine pull.
