Since the 16th century, gin has quite possibly been the alcohol world’s most prolific potion – a constant throughout the years, always marking the time like it did during Prohibition when it was the only accessible spirit. Along the way, gin has built a storied legacy within the world of mixology. The Negroni. The Martini. So many classic cocktails.
Without gin, no bar would be complete.
While you may be familiar with the classic gin cocktails, you might need a refresher on the various types of gin. The spirit is always crafted through a distinctive marriage of different botanicals, but not all gins are made equal.
We asked our Craft Spirit Specialist Brian Roman (pictured left) for his take on four of the most common gin styles, including what makes each of them a unique entry into the world of gin.
