Sierra Nevada Leads Fundraising Effort to Help Camp Fire Victims

Dec. 12, 2018

The recent Camp Fire in California has devastated entire communities, killed dozens and left a lasting scar across the people and land of the Golden State. In its wake, individuals and businesses have stepped up to help the survivors and first responders who faced down the fire and are now dealing with the aftermath. We are proud to announce that our friends and partners at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company are leading a nationwide effort to support the recovery.

“Many of you have asked if we will be brewing a fundraiser beer to support Camp Fire relief efforts,” said Ken Grossman, founder of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in a recent statement. “The answer is a resounding ‘yes.’” As of the writing of this article, the beer is already in production.

Sierra Nevada, a longtime pillar of the American craft brewing movement, has announced a new release of Resilience Butte County Proud IPA, specifically to raise money for the Camp Fire Relief Fund. The beer was brewed on “Giving Tuesday,” November 27, and the company will be donating the entirety of Resilience sales, 100 percent, to the fund.

However, the fundraising continues, as Grossman and Sierra Nevada has shared the recipe for Resilience IPA and called on every American brewer to brew up their own batch of Resilience to sell in support of the fund. To facilitate the brew, Sierra Nevada is coordinating efforts with malt, hop, and yeast suppliers to deliver the raw materials for the IPA to all the participating breweries who agree to donate 100 percent of their Resilience sales to the fund.

Grossman’s plan is to have Resilience available nationwide by late December, in cans and on draught wherever possible — as of the writing of this article, that’s over 1200 breweries nationwide, in all 50 states, plus Washington DC, France, and Thailand.

We applaud Sierra Nevada’s inspiring work on behalf of these ravaged communities and victims, and we are proud to be a part of this unprecedented act of solidarity and altruism from the craft beer community.
