Breakthru Beverage and Sailor Jerry Join Aleethia Foundation to Support Wounded Veterans

May 26, 2017

When brave veterans return home from serving their country, re-acclimating to “normal” can be a challenge – for some, even impossible. However, organizations such as The Aleethia Foundation help make the experience a more welcoming one.

Since October 2003, Aleethia has been providing “Friday Night Dinners” for wounded service members and their families.

“My first dinner was the first time I felt like I was home,” Sgt. Steve Clark said of his Aleethia experience.

Aleethia’s mission is one that Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum and Breakthru Beverage Group are proud to support, and this summer, they will partner with Aleethia to help serve more dinners to those who have proudly served our country. In the Breakthru South Carolina and Virginia markets, a portion of the proceeds of each Sailor Jerry sold will be donated to The Aleethia Foundation.

“We are a volunteer organization that exists because wonderful organizations like Sailor Jerry have shared our vision of support,” said Hal Koster, Executive Director of The Aleethia Foundation.

Sailor Jerry’s commitment to supporting veterans stems from its founding roots. Normal Collins, aka, Sailor Jerry himself, served in the Navy. His honor now lives on in this annual program, which is known as The Norman Collins Initiative at The Aleethia Foundation.

“Over the past six years, Sailor Jerry is proud to have raised more than $250,000 for Aleethia in support of our military,” said Josh Hayes, Sailor Jerry Senior Brand Manager. “We’re glad to continue the initiative again this year.”
