Where did Orbium come from?
Created by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie, Orbium is a “reinterpretation of the rounded house style of the original Hendrick’s Gin,” according to a statement from William Grant & Sons. Orbium deviates from Hendrick’s with the addition of extracts of quinine, wormwood and lotus blossom, creating a “curiously exquisite flavor that sits roundly on the palate.”
The infusion of quinine and wormwood evokes the flavors of Gin and Tonics and Martinis, while the addition of lotus blossom balances the overall flavor to create a complex gin with surprising brightness and a finish that is uncommonly long.
A work of art
“Orbium, the first-ever new Hendrick’s expression, is available in the U.S. and is intended for those in the trade industry who have been loyal to Hendrick’s from the very beginning,” said Paige Parness, Senior Brand Manager for Hendrick’s Gin. “It’s an important step in our innovation process as we continue to grow our brand. We’re eager to bring new additions to our loyal on-premise base here in the United States, and perhaps even new innovations in the future for the off-premise.”
Like Hendrick’s, Orbium is a groundbreaking spirit, and a work of art. The name itself is derived from Latin word for circle, “orb,” and pays tribute to the journey Gracie undertook to create the spirit. The liquid is presented with the same attention to visual beauty which has made Hendrick’s so iconic.
