Flavored Whisky Drives Growth
Aug. 24, 2016
SALES GROWTH TO SAVOR
Spirits sales figures in 2015 were sweet, with supplier sales up 4.1% and volume up 2.3%, according to the Distilled Spirits Council. The numbers were more than just sweet, though. They were also tangy, tart and red hot, thanks to incredible growth among flavored whisky brands. According to Nielsen, North American Whisky drove 42% of 2015’s growth, with almost half of that growth coming from flavored whisky brands.
“Younger consumers are embracing new expressions, particularly with flavored whiskey,” says Marina Velez, Beverage Information & Insights Group senior product manager for data and insights, adding “I think flavored whiskys will continue to rise.”
AN APPETITE FOR INNOVATION
Recent innovations like Crown Royal Regal Apple have demonstrated an interest among consumers for flavored whisky, and Crown Royal is delivering new products to capitalize on the trend. The next is Crown Royal Vanilla. This innovation infuses Crown Royal's signature smooth style with the rich aroma and taste of real Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans for a uniquely rich whisky experience.
