Bulleit Goes Hollywood

May 7, 2018

Bulleit Frontier Whiskey has long had a starring role on cocktail menus and store shelves, and now the iconic spirit is getting into the movie business. Sort of. In April, Bulleit Frontier Whiskey announced a new multi-year partnership with the Tribeca Film Festival, one of the nation’s most prestigious cinematic events, celebrating creators, storytellers, and other innovators out on the frontier of filmmaking.

In addition to supporting the mission of the Tribeca Film Festival, this new partnership ensures that Bulleit brands will have “Top-Billing” at all official festival venues, parties, afterparties, and other events. With such prominent placement at these high-profile festival events, Bulleit will be perfectly positioned to interact directly with tastemakers from across the nation and become the spirit of choice for visiting celebrities.

"This marks the beginning of our partnership with Tribeca Film Festival. The Bulleit brand has been built by people, partnerships and collaborations on the frontier of culture," said Sophie Kelly, Senior Vice President of North American Whiskeys for DIAGEO. "The focus of this Frontier Works partnership will be facilitating projects and telling stories on the frontier of culture.”

Pete Torres, COO, Tribeca Enterprises, called out Bulleit’s own story, and how it complements the festival. "The history of Bulleit's classic brand and its entrepreneurial spirit perfectly align with Tribeca Film Festival," Torres said. "This first year is the beginning of an exciting relationship that will spotlight Bulleit's unique story and support storytellers at the Festival."

This partnership gives Bulleit the opportunity to “be seen” by and with luminaries in film, art, and more. Priority moments for Bulleit during the Festival this year include a special screening and afterparty for The Seagull, the Ninth Annual Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards (TDIA) Ceremony, and the inaugural Frontier Works: Do Tank. At each of these events, Bulleit and its incredible story will be on display.

The Seagull Film Screening/Afterparty

Bulleit Frontier Whiskey has a proud tradition of entrepreneurial spirit, and risk, making the brand an ideal choice to partner with The Seagull, an ambitious and risky new film already generating buzz outside the festival circuit. To honor the work of the film’s creators, Bulleit also sponsored the afterparty following the world premiere, honoring the crew and the film’s stars Annette Benning, Saoirse Ronan and Elisabeth Moss.

TDIA Ceremony and Frontier Works: Do Tanks

What is a “Do Tank?” At heart, it is similar to a “Think Tank,” but the end results of the thought is turned into action, and Bulleit just started this series of new events. Through the “Do Tank” program, Bulleit is bringing together thought leaders, activists, and other “disruptors” to take on questions of urban renewal and how best to help communities move forward.

“Today we hold our first Frontier Works: Do Tank, focusing on the frontier of urban disruption,” said Sophie Kelly, Senior Vice President of North American Whiskeys for DIAGEO, before the event held in late April. “The Do Tank will be a series of collaborations which aim to generate real projects and actions that will stir the frontier spirit in everyone and create real impact in culture," she added.

"Industry powerhouses will come together to discuss the real-world application of renewable design solutions,” said Craig Hatkoff, co-founder of Tribeca Film Festival. “Bulleit Frontier Whiskey's community can now participate and help power these collaborative solutions,” adding "The true pioneering spirit of the traditional frontiersman can now be applied to modern frontiers of cutting-edge projects that will redefine the cities of the future. Our hope is that by teaming up with Bulleit Frontier Whiskey we can bring this ethos and sensibility to the new frontiers of urban disruption."

In addition to this new initiative, Bulleit is also co-sponsoring the Ninth Annual Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards (TDIA) in conjunction with the festival. The TDIA honorees are a diverse group, like Bulleit fans, including revolutionaries and game-changers such as a Nobel Peace Prize winner and the inventor of the hashtag. Together, they hope to come together to develop new solutions to seemingly intractable problems.

Next Year

For the 2019 festival, and beyond, Bulleit is working with Tribeca Studios and Tribeca Film Festival on a frontier-forging documentary series. More details of that initiative will be shared as they become available. In the meantime, Bulleit’s entire portfolio of spirits is available now.
