Breakthru IL gives back to the community with BUILD Chicago partnership

Sep. 23, 2016

Breakthru Beverage Illinois and BUILD Chicago began a meaningful relationship this spring when Breakthru Vice-Chairman Danny Wirtz personally delivered two autographed Blackhawks jerseys to BUILD’s main campus in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood. The jerseys were donated as auction items for a BUILD fundraiser.

BUILD, which stands for Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development, seeks to engage and develop at-risk youth within schools and on the streets of Chicago. Through three primary programs, BUILD strives to transform children’s lives from at-risk to at-hope in order to empower them to realize their educational and career potential, and to contribute to the well-being of Chicago’s communities.

It was not only BUILD’s mission that inspired Wirtz upon his first visit, but also seeing firsthand all of the incredible work the organization does.

“From the moment I walked into the door, it was overwhelmingly apparent how invested every stakeholder was in the future of these young people,” Wirtz said. “I knew immediately this was an organization that Breakthru should be involved with.”

BUILD’s main campus is just 15 minutes from Breakthru’s Cicero office, and volunteering and participating in BUILD events aligns directly with Breakthru’s mission to be a force for good in our community.

To date, Breakthru IL employees have volunteered their time for BUILD’s inaugural Health Fair and the annual End of Summer Bash. Breakthru is proud to partner with BUILD and to help support all of the great work they do for Chicago’s Youth.
