The Breakthru DC team is not one to shy away from a fight, especially when it comes to raising money for charities like Fight for Children and their mission to provide and improve early childhood education in Washington, DC. On November 11 at Fight Night 2016, Breakthru and our supplier partners at Proximo Spirits, Jägermeister, Hendricks Gin and Federalist wines went to the mat for Fight for Children, helping the annual fundraiser bring in over $5.2 million.

This year, Fight Night drew a record-breaking crowd for the fights, silent auction and after party. Attendees cheered on crowd favorites in Muay Thai and Championship Boxing competitions and rubbed elbows with mascots and cheerleaders from DC-area teams, boxing legends and even pool superstar Jeanette “The Black Widow” Lee. Entertainment was provided by a star-studded lineup of musicians like the Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Sheila E., Biz Markie and Foreigner.

Beneath the glamour and gala, Fight Night is also focused on the ongoing struggle to improve early childhood education in the District and Fight for Children’s goal of making it the best in the country. 2016 was a banner year for Fight for Children, with their programs reaching 17,000 kids and more than 300 educators in over 30 partner schools. The money raised at Fight Night each year is vital to that ongoing mission.

Our thanks go out to all the attendees who contributed, sponsors and donors who made the event possible, the Fight Night team for organizing the event, and our associates and partners for their hard work in making it all happen. We are looking forward to doing it all again at on November 2 at Fight Night 2017. Mark your calendars now.
