5 Rabbit Brings Latin Flavor to Wirtz Wisconsin's Craft Beer Portfolio

Jul. 2, 2015

5 Rabbot Cerveceria

Wirtz Beverage Wisconsin is excited to announce that 5 Rabbit Cerveceria has joined its growing craft beer portfolio.

"We are so excited to be representing 5 Rabbit Cerceveria.  They epitomize the craft beer industry's dedication to high quality and innovation in brewing. With beers such as 5 Lizard, a passion fruit Wit Bier, the portfolio is a perfect fit for our Wisconsin Craft Beer consumer."

Hailing from just south of the Wisconsin border in Bedford Park, IL, 5 Rabbit Cerveceria crafts Latin-inspired beers that are brewed with a culinary touch. Sourcing the best ingredients possible, 5 Rabbitâ’s brewers put them together in a way that makes the whole beer add up to much more than the sum of its parts. Its beers will appeal not just to veteran beer enthusiast, but also to everyone seeking fresh, unique and delicious beers.

CEO Andrés Araya founded 5 Rabbit in 2011, and with former Goose Island Brewmaster John J. Hall presiding over the brew kettle, and Tasting Beer author Randy Mosher coming on as a partner, 5 Rabbit has quickly grown into one of Chicagoland’s most ambitious and talked about breweries. The brewery has been featured prominently in publications across the U.S. including All About Beer, Imbibe, Chicago Tribune and GoodBeerHunting.com.

Wirtz Wisconsin will be launching five of 5 Rabbitâ’s draft-only options throughout state the week of July 13 with packaged product available in the near future. Liberate your senses and learn more about these five styles below.

5 Rabbit Golden Ale

5 Rabbit Golden Ale
Style: Golden Ale ABV: 5.3% IBUs: 32

5 Rabbit is an elegant take on a classic golden ale. A base of high-quality malt contributes caramel and honeyed notes, and these are balanced by a brisk, clean bitterness. Its lively hop aroma blends Czech Saaz and New Zealand Motueka. It is a pale beer with surprising depth.

5 Lizard

5 Lizard
Style: Witbier ABV: 4.3% IBUs: 20

5 Lizard is a Latin spin on the classic Belgian Witbier. Brewed with malt, wheat and oats, it is then spiced with coriander and fresh lime peel. Passionfruit purée is added to the fermenters for a delicious and slightly exotic flavor. It is low in alcohol, super-refreshing and sophisticated all at the same time.

5 Vulture

5 Vulture
Style: Chili Beer ABV: 6.4 IBUs: 35

5 Vulture is a deep amber-colored ale with complex caramel and sugar cane aromas with a long dry and spicy finish. A small amount of roasted ancho chile is used to complement the toasty malt aroma, adding a fruity-toasty depth without heat or strong chile flavor. Unrefined sugar lightens the body for a crisp drinkability.

Gingolandia Super Pils

Gringolandia Super Pils
Style: Imperial Pilsner ABV: 7.2% IBU: 65

Super Pils is a classic Pilsner character in a big, bold beer that drinks like an IPA. Cool-fermented with the house ale yeast for a clean, smooth flavor with just a hint of fruitiness. The beer perfectly balances malt and hops in classic Pilsner fashion--just stronger. Super Pils is packaged unfiltered for better body and foam.

Paletas

Paletas

Style: Fruit Beer ABV: 3.5% IBUs: 16

Paletas are meant as summer refreshers--a more sophisticated alternative to one-dimensional shandies and radlers. Using high-quality fruit, 5 Rabbit adds a number of spices and other flavors that build on the fruits, adding complexity and depth. A large proportion of wheat gives them a smooth, creamy mouth-feel. There’s really never been anything like them.
