Ad Alert: Adam Devine Joins Captain Morgan’s Crew

This fall, get ready to live #LikeACaptain once again. 

This season is traditionally a strong time of year for the Captain, thanks in no small part to his incredibly popular Jack-O-Blast rum, but this year will be an even bigger deal for the brand with the launch of a new round of #LikeACaptain television ads starring comedian and actor Adam Devine.

Welcome Aboard, Matey!

Back in August, Devine was appointed Captain Morgan’s Chief Party Officer, a position he has long been preparing to hold. The star of Workaholics, Pitch Perfect and Modern Family will now star alongside the Captain in a new television campaign created to help party-goers everywhere live #LikeACaptain all year long. The ads will begin airing in October, coinciding with the unofficial start of the holiday season, but Devine began faithfully executing his duties as CPO back in July, when he and a DJ crashed the 30th birthday party of a Devine superfan, Tyler Tillis.

Tills thought he would usher in his 30s at a small gathering with a few friends, but was soon amazed to find his favorite comedian had arrived up on his doorstep with a DJ and an appetite for (responsible) partying.

 

 

"I've been living like a Captain for many years," said Devine in a recent statement from the company. "I'm glad my love for the brand has evolved from demanding everyone call me 'The Captain' at parties to now being the Chief Party Officer for the Captain himself. I look forward to throwing many parties together in the future and spreading the Captain Morgan lifestyle."

Like, Follow and Share Like the Captain

Being a Chief Party Officer means more than good-natured home invasions, though. Devine is also the co-star of Captain Morgan’s newest advertising efforts, building on the "Live Like A Captain" campaign from last summer. The new videos find Devine staying on brand by crashing the Captain's own house party and taking the party to the next level. The spot is already online and will make its television debut sometime in October, coinciding with the release of additional Captain Morgan digital content.

 

 

Watching Devine and the Captain in action together, it is easy to see how this partnership came about, and what Devine brings to the Captain’s table. "Captain Morgan needed a Chief Party Officer who can not only dominate a game of cornhole but is the first to order a ride home for the group," said Captain Morgan Vice President, Linda Bethea in a statement from the company. "There is no doubt that Adam brings an unprecedented level of energy and fun with him wherever he goes."
