Millions of Americans rely on physical therapy to simply be able to move around freely in their daily lives.

For the 12th year in a row, Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Physical Therapy hosted a charity to raise money for the Foundation for Physical Therapy, the only nonprofit solely dedicated to PT research. This year’s tournament featured a foursome comprised of Breakthru Virginia’s legendary linksmen, who along with putting on a clinic in terms of golfing prowess, raised more than $1,000 for the cause.

“We are proud to be a part of this fundraising event to support the future leaders in the field of physical therapy, as well as support our local Virginia PT clinics,” said Dale Farino, Breakthru Virginia President.

The VCU Department of Physical Therapy Golf Tournament is part of the FPT’s signature annual fundraising series, with more than 250 PT schools nationwide participating. In 2016, more than $350,000 was raised for physical therapy research, with VCU leading the charge with more than $30,000 donated. Since this charity series started, more than $3.3 million has been contributed to PT research.

Breakthru Virginia has long supported various VCU initiatives, including cancer-related programs, and they are proud to again stand by VCU in another worthwhile cause.
