This season, associates from Breakthru Beverage Wisconsin helped to make the holidays more special for military families in the state. Associates donated over $500 cash to this year’s USO Wisconsin “Operation Christmas,” and 31 associates volunteered their time decorating, wrapping presents and making sure the event was a huge success for our military families.

Each December, the third floor of Milwaukee’s Memorial Hall becomes a magical place for boys and girls of all ages, where for one night only the halls are decked with boughs of holly. Children spend time writing and sending letters to Santa – more than 50 this year – sitting on his lap for a present consultation and photo, testing their skills at winter-themed tabletop games and paying a visit to a special room to choose gifts for mom and dad.

A quick trip up to the fourth floor leads to a quieter – but just as busy – spot where moms and dads get to “shop” for their children. There are toys, books, clothing and all manner of donated gifts to choose from. And once mom and dad make their selections, the “elves” get to work. Dozens of volunteers from local businesses wrap up the presents and deliver them to the cars downstairs, all the while keeping them out of view until Christmas morning.

Together with the USO, Breakthru Beverage helped give out 16 bikes and more than 2,000 other gifts to the more than 350 families that braved the cold weather to attend the annual event. Meanwhile, more than 50 kids wrote letters to Santa.

Our thanks go out to our generous associates who helped make this event a success, and to our partners at the USO for their continued work in support of our nation’s military families.
