What's in a Wine?

From frosé to rainbow cocktails, there’s no shortage of trends in the alcohol beverage industry. Some trends cater to the palate or even to Instagram, but there are a few that lean more toward the health and environmentally conscious.

A wave has brought organic, biodynamic and sustainable wines to shelves and it’s starting a conversation, said Breakthru Beverage Wisconsin sales consultant Kara Dedering.

“It’s something that is much more talked about these days,” Dedering said. “People are becoming more conscientious of what they’re putting into their bodies.”

The three are grouped into the same family, but each has its own personality.

The information on organic, biodynamic and sustainable wine categories can’t fit on a single bottle label, so it’s typically up to consumers to find the wine that’s perfect for them.

While the research can be extensive, Dedering helped break down the basics of organic, biodynamic and sustainable wine.
