Bols Makes Your Cocktails Instagram Worthy

We’re living in a technicolored world, that’s for sure. From coffee to cakes, consumers are snapping photos and sharing reactions to a whole new world of colorful culinary creations. With this much attention being given to the color of our food and drinks, it’s time to take another look at your cocktail list and find some opportunities to bring in a little color.

To help spark your imagination, we have developed seven rainbow-inspired cocktails, one for each hue in a rainbow – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet (ROYGBIV). To create these drinks, we used Bols Liqueurs, which not only add bright, vivid colors to cocktails, but they also provide a balanced sweetness and fresh fruit flavors. 

 

BOLS Ruby Red Sipper Cocktail

Ruby Red Sipper

.5 oz Galliano L’ Apertivo
.75 oz Bols Strawberry
.5 oz frest lime juice
4 oz brut cava
Garnishes: Strawberry and a lemon twist

Combine the Galliano L’ Apertivo, Bols Strawberry and lime juice into a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir until the drink is chilled. Strain into a flute glass and top with brut cava.


Orange Cocktail with apricot garnish

Oscar’s Wild

1.5 oz bourbon
.75 oz Bols Apricot
.75 oz fresh lemon juice
.5 oz mango puree
2 dashes
Garnishes: Dried apricot, cherry and grated nutmeg.

Combine bourbon, Bols Apricot, lemon juice and mango puree in a shaker tin packed with ice. Shake until well chilled. Double strain into a clean Georgian glass. Garnish with the dried apricot, cherry and freshly grated nutmeg.


Yellow Tropical Cocktail made with Bols Banana

Yes to the Beach

1.5 oz. white rum
.5 oz. dark rum (float)
.75 oz. Bols Banana
.75 oz. fresh lime juice
1 oz. pineapple juice
.75 oz. passionfruit puree
3 dashes aromatic bitters
Garnishes: Pineapple leaf, pineapple wedge, lime wheel and fresh nutmeg

Combine white rum, Bols Banana, pineapple juice, passionfruit puree and bitters into a shaker filled with ice. Shake until well chilled. Strain into a hurricane glass filled with fresh ice. Float the dark rum on top of the drink. Garnish with the pineapple leaf, pineapple wedge and a few grates of nutmeg.


Green cocktail with Bols Melon, vodka and mint

Grill and the Garden

1.5 oz. vodka
.75 oz. Bols Melon
.75 oz. fresh lime
.5 oz simple syrup
Garnishes: Sprig of mint, lime wheel

Combine vodka, Bols melon, fresh lime juice and simple syrup into a shaking tin with ice. Shake until well chilled. Double strain into a clean coupe glass and garnish with the sprig of mint and lime wheel.


Blue cocktail with Damrack Gin, Bols Blue Curacao, lemon, blueberries and cardamom

Basic Blue Cardigan

1.5 oz. Damrak Gin
.75 oz. Bols Blue Curacao
.75 oz. fresh lemon juice
.5 oz. blueberry puree
1 dash cardamom bitter
Garnishes: Fresh blueberries and a lemon swath

Combine Damrak Gin, Bols Blue Curacao, lemon juice, blueberry puree and bitters into a shaker packed with fresh ice. Shake until well chilled. Strain into a clean rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a few floating blueberries and the lemon swath.


Indigo colored cocktail with Bols Genever, Bols Blue Curacao, Bols Lychee, fresh lime and ginger beer

Idyllic Journey

1.5 oz. Bols Genever
.25 oz. Bols Blue Curacao
.5 oz. Bols Lychee
.5 oz. fresh lime juice
2-3 oz. ginger beer
Garnishes: Edible flowers, lime wheel, orange twist

Combine Bols Genever, Bols Blue Curacao, Bols Lychee, and fresh lime juice into a shaker filled with ice. Shake until well chilled. Strain into a Collins glass filled ¾ of the way with ice. Add the ginger beer and then top it off with more ice. Garnish with the edible flowers, lime wheel, orange twist


Violet colored cocktail with Tequila, Bols Cassis, and brut Cava

Villa Nueva

1.5 oz. Tequila
.75 oz. Bols Cassis
.75 oz. fresh lime
.5 oz. simple syrup
2 oz. brut cava
2 dashes orange bitters
Garnishes: Lime wheel, cinnamon stick, cherry

Combine Tequila, Bols Cassis, fresh lime juice, simple syrup and orange bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until well chilled. Strain into a stemmed cocktail glass filled with ice. Top with brut cava and add more ice if needed. Garnish with the lime wheel, cherry and freshly grated cinnamon.
