Piper-Heidsieck Brings its Red Label to the Red Carpet

2/12/2019

When Tom Hanks won back-to-back Oscars, it was a huge moment in Oscar history.

Now imagine that he won three more times, right in a row.

It seems impossible to keep putting out the quality of work that gets you to the Oscars five years in a row, but that’s exactly what our friends at Piper-Heidsieck have done. Yes, Piper-Heidsieck, known the world over for its distinctive red label, will be back on the red carpet this year—for the fifth consecutive year—as the sole Champagne to be served during the 91st Oscars award season.

Uncorking Hollywood

Piper-Heidsieck is imported to the U.S. by our partners at Terlato Wines, and we here at Breakthru Beverage are proud to bring it to businesses like yours in time to capitalize on the glitz and glamor of Oscar season. The Oscars were watched by over 26 million of people last year, with red carpet coverage gaining extra exposure through magazines, online news sites and social media. The built-in coverage of the Oscars makes it an effective way to reinforce the message that Piper-Heidsieck Champagne is a quality wine perfect for celebrations of all sorts.

In a recent statement, Benoit Collard, General Manager for Piper-Heidsieck, praised the company’s relationship with the Oscars. “We are extremely proud of our five-year partnership with the Oscars and are particularly excited to be pouring Piper-Heidsieck Brut for the 91st ceremony,” he said. “This bottle represents the eternal union of the Red and the Gold—the glamour of the red carpet and the prestige of the gold statuette. These symbols have been the source of inspiration for the limited-edition bottle created especially for the Academy. This Champagne, bottled in Reims and enjoyed in Los Angeles, is the very expression of the universal magic of cinema, to which we are paying tribute.”

And the winner is...

This year, like the four previous years, the Piper-Heidsieck limited-edition magnum will be a fixture at all Oscars events, from the Nominees Luncheon Feb. 4 to the awards ceremony Feb. 24, the after party, and beyond. The custom-made magnum features the House’s signature Cuvée Brut and will be poured exclusively at Oscar events.

The close, official association between Piper-Heidsieck and the Oscars makes it an obvious choice for consumers hosting their own Oscar night party at home or celebrating at their favorite bar or restaurant. Let your customers know that they can capture some of the red-carpet magic with Piper-Heidsieck on Oscar night, and all year long.

Piper-Heidsieck has a connection to film history that reaches back almost as far as the Oscars themselves. In 1933, a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck made its cinematic debut in Sons of the Desert, a movie which was also the debut of a comedy duo known as Laurel and Hardy. At Breakthru, we are thrilled to be a part of that ongoing legacy.
