Breakthru Beverage Partners with Casa Foundation of Las Vegas, Delivers Gifts to Children in Need

Jan. 11, 2016

Together with the CASA Foundation of Las Vegas, Breakthru Beverage Nevada helped deliver holiday gifts to more than 3,750 children through the Angel Tree event.

"The Angel Tree Event has been one of our most powerful connections to the community and has had a profound impact on our organization," said Breakthru Beverage Group SVP Kevin Roberts. "Personally speaking, there haven’t been too many moments in my life where I’ve seen such a bond with employees coming together in support of making a difference to children that come from a broken environment; we are so fortunate and proud of our employees that find time out of their personal schedules to donate and help make a difference."

The Angel Tree event provides holiday gifts to children in Clark County’s foster system. Because of abuse or neglect, there are 3,500 children in foster care in Clark County at any given time.

"More toys were donated this year through our toy drives than any other year," said the CASA Foundation of Las Vegas. "There were collection boxes in over 80 local businesses and we received generous cash donations from many other businesses in the community, meaning that the foundation was able to spend less on the party and will have more money to spend on the kids throughout the year for tutoring, braces, summer camp and more."

CASA foundation collected and delivered all donated gifts to the Breakthru Beverage Nevada Las Vegas office. For several weeks, a steady stream of gift-wrappers donated time to wrap presents. Students from local high schools as well as many other community members, Breakthru Beverage employees and their family members all chipped in More than $145,000 worth of toys and gift cards were donated through the toy drive, which required upwards of 15,000 sq. ft. of wrapping paper, 100 rolls of scotch tape and endless helping hands to wrap.

On the day of the Angel Tree event, over 150 volunteers from Breakthru Beverage, the CASA Foundation and the Department of Family Services donned elf hats and welcomed 1,250 foster children and families into the winter wonderland at Breakthru Beverage. Children played carnival games, had their faces painted, met their favorite Disney characters, worked through a 72-foot inflatable obstacle course, met Santa and Mrs. Claus and of course, received a bundle of Christmas presents.

Together we were able to provide, and the Department of Family Services delivered, another 2,500 gifts or gift cards to children who did not attend the party.

"It’s truly wonderful to see the look on the children’s faces when they receive their gifts," said Bart Masi, director of external affairs and community development for Breakthru Beverage Nevada. "But seeing the expressions on the faces of the volunteers as they witness the joy in the children is even better."
