Green City Market’s Chef BBQ Celebrates Local Eats and Drinks

Jul. 26, 2018

Green City Market’s Chef BBQ features some of Chicago’s top food and beverage purveyors and this year, there wasn’t a shortage of either.

It’s an opportunity for Chicagoans to eat, drink and celebrate local.

Breakthru Beverage Illinois partners with the Green City Market Chef BBQ every July to provide event-goers with custom cocktails featuring ingredients that can be found in the farmers market itself.

“The great thing about partnering with GCM is that our bartenders get to use fresh ingredients and local spirits,” said Breakthru IL Beverage Development Manager Natalia Cardenas. “We carry so many craft, local brands that are integral to our community.”

Food served from the city’s top restaurants were perfecting pairings to Breakthru IL’s five different cocktails, which featured products from five unique local brands — CH Distillery, Death’s Door, FEW Spirits, Xicaru and Stumpy’s.

BuckleDown Brewing, Spiteful Brewing, Haymarket Pub & Brewery and Dogfish Head also provided selections for those who were more hops-inclined.

The year-round farmers market’s annual fundraiser helps support the “markets, education and access programs,” according to Green City Market’s website.

Breakthru loves partnering with Illinois organizations that put focus on celebrating local and is excited for next year with the Green City Market Chef BBQ.
